Places that you will be able to visit:

Torre del rellotge (Clock tower). Built in 1772, it was the port’s lighthouse until the beginning of the 20th century, when it lost his original function due to the port’s expansion. Apart from a lighthouse, the pier was used as the passport office, as the health inspection post and as the navy’s headquarters. In 1904 its characteristic four-faced clock was added, giving the tower its current appearance. It’s a building from Barcelona which is protected as a cultural good of local interest. It is also one of the sites that the scientist Pierre F. Mechain used to take measures to determine the metric system.

Mooring area. We will discover the main two fishing techniques that are used in our pier: trawling and seine fishing. We will know how they work and the types of fishes captured in each case.

Patio de redes. It’s the zone where the nets are spread out to sew the holes that may have been made during the fishing activity. It’s a job traditionally made by the fisher’s wives and that is still made manually.

Fishery. It’s the space where the fish arrived at the pier are sold at auction daily. Fish distributors and ship operators can access here. Unlike the majority of auctions, this is an open descending price auction.

Fishers’ huts. Fishers keep their tools in small huts. There, we will find thread and needle to sew the nets, moulds to leave the fish, life vests, boats and lots of other utensils of daily use.
